Dr. Karp is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He attended college at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating magna cum laude in 2000 with a B.S in Neuroscience. After pursuing a year of research at the National Institutes of Health, he attended Temple University School of Medicine, receiving his Medical Degree in 2005. He then returned home to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
He was previously on faculty at Sidney Kimmel Medical College as an Assistant Professor of Medicine, practicing at Jefferson Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia, where he served as Section Chief of Gastroenterology. He joined Main Line Gastroenterology Associates in 2022.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
He lives on the Main Line with his wife and two young children.
